After working for decades with a 4″ x 5″ view camera and film, I have now transitioned into the digital world. In order to maintain the highest standards, I print, mat, mount, and frame virtually all my own work.

I have traveled extensively throughout the United States, Central America, Japan, South America, and Africa in the never ending quest for stimulating subject matter. There is a strong graphical nature to my work. I utilize compositional elements such as shape, line, form, and texture with the final component being a heightened awareness of light. I use these elements to create photographs that often transcend the original subject to stimulate an emotional and intellectual response in the viewer. My objective is to interpret rather than just document.

I was originally educated as an environmental engineer. While doing graduate work in a specialized field known as Remote Sensing of the Environment, I utilized satellite imagery and aerial photography for pollution detection and monitoring. This work gave me a technical background in photography. After a three-month trip to Europe during which my primary focus consisted of visits to major art museums, galleries, and exhibitions, I merged my technical knowledge of photography with my newfound interest in art. In 1979, I abandoned my engineering career and became a full time artist. My photographs are in numerous public, private, and corporate collections throughout the United States and Japan.
